I’m drawn to painting florals because of their physical beauty and probably their association for me with happy occasions. I primarily use reference photos that I’ve taken myself. There are many photo opportunities in our garden and as I walk in the neighborhood or when visiting family. Occasionally I’ll set up a still life and paint from direct observation. Florals have it all–color, shape, line and often emotion.
